Hailey Niswanger — Saxopohone

Hailey Niswanger

Hailey Niswanger, grew up in Portland, Oregon, and graduated in December of 2011 with a bachelor's degree in Jazz Performance from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, on a full scholarship. Hailey leads her own quartet that has performed at many jazz festivals and clubs across the United States, including the Mary Lou Williams Jazz Festival, Saratoga Jazz Festival, and Blue Note Jazz Club. Her debut CD "Confeddie" was released in June 2009 and received stellar reviews in JazzTimes, Jazziz and Downbeat Magazine and inspired veteran jazz critic Nat Hentoff to pen a profile of Hailey in The Wall Street Journal. Her second album, The Keeper, was released April 2012. On this release, Hailey demonstrates even greater virtuosity on her horns—alto and soprano saxophones—and deeper grounding in tradition, and features eight of her original compositions. Most recently, Hailey has been touring around the world with Esperanza Spalding's Radio Music Society.
