Jeff Lederer

Jeff Lederer is a saxophonist/composer/educator based in Brooklyn, New York whose musical work dramatically crosses historical and stylistic boundaries. His work Los Sazones, an extended re-imagining of Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” for Salsa band and Baroque Chamber Orchestra was commissioned by the Ravinia Festival for the Chicago Symphony in 2003 and has received repeated performances by that Orchestra along with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Phoenix Symphony, Colorado Symphony and many regional orchestras. He is an active performer in jazz and Latin music- his group Shakers n’ Bakers offers a look at Shaker “Vision” songs through the lens of free jazz, minimalism and pop. He has produced 7 recordings for many record labels including Gunther Schuller’s GM Recordings and as a saxophonist is a part of many other internationally known groups including the Matt Wilson Quartet, Jimmy Bosch’s Salsa Dura and the Grammy-nominated Bobby Sanabria Big Band.
